We are proud to share a remarkable milestone: Dr. De Wilde, together with our team, has performed the very first SMILE laser treatment in Belgium for farsightedness. Until now, this technique was only used for nearsightedness, but thanks to recent technological advancements, patients with farsightedness (hyperopia) can now also benefit from this procedure.
SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) is an advanced laser treatment in which the correction is performed through a small opening in the cornea. Unlike traditional laser methods such as LASIK, it does not require the creation of a large flap. This means a lower risk of dry eyes, faster recovery, and less strain on the eye.
Being able to apply this innovative technique to farsightedness is an important step forward in personalised eye care. We are pleased and proud that Eyecenter can introduce this groundbreaking treatment, and we continue to fulfil our mission: progressive eye care with attention to every patient.
