A life without glasses or contact lenses
Are you dreaming of a life without glasses or contact lenses? Are you fed up with forgetting your glasses, with fogged-up glasses or contact lenses that dry out your eyes? Treatments that enable you to live, work, swim, run, etc. without glasses or lenses are possible starting as of age 18. Dr. De Wilde and his team have specialised in treatments to replace glasses and contacts for many years. Moreover, we have access to the most advanced equipment to guarantee a successful treatment. Together, we evaluate what is possible for you.
Treatments for a life without glasses or contact lenses
Laser treatments are the best-known form of treatment to get rid of your glasses or contact lenses. Yet an extra lens implant or, if you are a bit older, a lens replacement, are procedures we have been carrying out for years, to the great satisfaction of our patients.
Laser treatments
From age 18 to 45
Are you under 45 and would you like sharper vision without having to depend on glasses or contact lenses? A laser eye treatment can optimise your vision.
- Various types of laser treatments are possible, depending on your eyes and according to your preferences.
- Quick recovery
- Irreversible
- Not advisable for everyone
Extra lens implant
From age 18 to 45
Are you ineligible for a laser treatment and/or would like a reversible treatment for a life without glasses? Then the implant of a clear ocular lens, which is placed in front of your natural lens, may be the solution for you.
- Reversible, since we don’t touch your natural ocular lens.
- Suitable if your cornea is too thin for laser treatment.
- Very quick recovery
- More expensive solution
- Not recommended for everyone (e.g. if the anterior chamber is narrow)
Presbyond laser treatment
From age 45 to 60
There is also a laser treatment for people who want to stop having to use both distance glasses and reading glasses. With the ‘monovision’ technique, one eye is treated for distance vision and one for near vision.
- Fast recovery
- Reliable and reversible
- A possibility of cataract forming with age
- Greater likelihood of dry eyes
Lens replacement
After age 45
If you are 45 or older, your lens will naturally begin to lose some of its flexibility, and you may opt for a treatment whereby your natural ocular lens is replaced by an artificial lens.
- Restores near vision and reading ability.
- Your visual acuity will never change again.
- No risk of cataracts
- Irreversible
- Little likelihood of needing to wear glasses afterwards for specific distances.

Four steps to a life without glasses
Intake examination
Your true journey begins with an extensive pre-operative examination where all the necessary eye tests are carried out and we get to know your needs, lifestyle, work conditions, and expectations. Be sure to set aside 2 hours for this extensive preliminary examination.
Choice of treatment
Based on all the information from the intake exam, the ophthalmologist will advise you on the treatment that is best suited to you. Together, we look at your options and draw up a treatment plan that best fits with your lifestyle and wishes.
Scheduling and treatment
Next, the chosen treatment is scheduled and our secretarial staff will inform you about the preparations for the procedure, as well as what to expect in the days after the procedure. You will be fully informed and can look forward to the procedure with confidence.
Follow-up
After the treatment, we ensure that your recovery period goes as smoothly as possible. We follow up and check how your vision has improved. If needed, we take any post-treatment steps necessary to ensure that you are happy with the result. Our secretarial staff are available every working day to help you with any questions, requests for clarification or concerns you might have.

"I underwent the SMILE surgery and am very satisfied. I had been struggling with lens fatigue for some time while wearing my lenses. The surgery itself is not painful or frightening. Dr. De Wilde always puts you at ease and clearly explains what is happening. It is quite expensive, but worth the money. I hesitated out of fear of pain or vision loss, but now I only regret not having done it sooner!"
"Very satisfied with my ICL surgery. Right from the initial exploratory examination, I had a very good feeling. Even during the surgery itself, for which I was extremely nervous, I was very well guided and everything went perfectly. Having work done on your eyes is not an easy decision, but if you want to do it, Eyecenter is definitely recommended!"
"I underwent a SMILE surgery 2 years ago, and now I can see perfectly without glasses or lenses. I am very satisfied with it and would recommend everyone to have their eyes lasered! I also suffered from dry eyes, but this has been greatly improved here as well! The doctors are very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended!"
